HOW TO FIND THE RIGHT SIZE WAKEBOARD

The size wakeboard you ride depends on your weight and riding style as specific boards have their own specialized sizing guidelines.  If you are getting a board multiple people can use, base your selection on the weight of the rider who rides the most, or the heaviest rider. If the wakeboard is not long enough, it won’t be able to float efficiently.

WAKEBOARD SIZE CHART

Rider Weight (lbs) Wakeboard Length (cm)
<100 <130
90-150 130-134
130-180 135-139
170-250 140-144
200-275+ >144

Why Choose a Shorter Board?

Many wakeboarders like to ride on the short end of their suggested size range.  The feeling you get depends on a boards shape, but generally, shorter boards are slower and take more energy to push through the water (the longer the board, the more surface area the board has on the water hence, the faster it will go).

Shorter boards are easier to do tricks like spin and maneuver in the air when flipping or flying across the water.

Shorter boards make for harder landings.  The nose of the board has more of a tendency to dig into the water when landing, resulting in an epic faceplant.

Why choose a Longer Board?

Longer boards are easier to ride and learn on.  Longer boards are heavier which means your work harder against its weight in the air, but with more weight come more control. So if you are learning tricks for the first time, longer boards are your way to go.  Longer boards move faster across the water and offer gentler landings.
